Author Guidelines

Submission Process

Manuscripts for Soft Computing Fusion with Applications should be submitted online at www.scfa.reapress.com. The submitting author, who is generally the corresponding author, is responsible for the manuscript during the submission and peer-review process. The submitting author must ensure that all eligible co-authors have been included in the author list and that they all have read and approved the submitted version of the manuscript. To submit your manuscript, register and log in to the submission page.

Accepted File Formats

Authors must use the Microsoft Word template or Latex template to prepare their manuscripts. Using the template file will substantially shorten the time to complete copy-editing and publication of accepted manuscripts. Accepted file formats are:

  • Manuscript submitted as PDF file are accepted only for the first review round.
  • Microsoft Word: Manuscripts prepared in Microsoft Word must be converted into a single file before submission. When preparing manuscripts in Microsoft Word, the Soft Computing Fusion with Applications template file must be used. Please insert your graphics (schemes, figures, etc.) in the main text after the paragraph of its first citation.
  • Latex files: The main manuscript prepared in Latex should be prepared following the Soft Computing Fusion with Applications template file in conjunction with the template class file. The inserted figures should be in vectorial format (EPS preferred) and with 300 dpi resolution quality or superior.
  • Supplementary files: May be of any format, but it is recommended that you use common, non-proprietary formats where possible.

 All necessary files have been uploaded:
- Manuscript:

  • Include keywords;
  • All figures (include relevant captions);
  • All tables (including titles, description, and footnotes);
  • Ensure all figure and table citations in the text match the files provided;
  • Indicate clearly if color should be used for any figures in print;

- Supplemental files (where applicable).

Reproducing Published Material from other Publishers

It is absolutely essential that authors obtain permission to reproduce any published material (figures, schemes, tables, or any extract of a text) which does not fall into the public domain, or for which they do not hold the copyright. Permission should be requested by the authors from the copyrightholder (usually the Publisher, please refer to the imprint of the individual publications to identify the copyrightholder).

Permission is required for:

    • Your own works published by other Publishers and for which you did not retain copyright.
    • Substantial extracts from anyone's works or a series of works.
    • Use of Tables, Graphs, Charts, Schemes, and Artworks if they are unaltered or slightly modified.
    • Photographs for which you do not hold copyright.

 Permission is not required for:

    • Reconstruction of your own table with data already published elsewhere. Please notice that in this case, you must cite the source of the data in the form of either "Data from..." or "Adapted from...".
    • Reasonably short quotes are considered fair use and therefore do not require permission.
    • Graphs, Charts, Schemes, and Artworks that are completely redrawn by the authors and significantly changed beyond recognition do not require permission.

Obtaining Permission

In order to avoid unnecessary delays in the publication process, you should start obtaining permissions as early as possible. If in any doubt about the copyright, apply for permission. Soft Computing Fusion with Applications cannot publish material from other publications without permission.

The copyright holder may give you instructions on the form of acknowledgment to be followed; otherwise, follow the style: "Reproduced with permission from [author], [book/journal title]; published by [publisher], [year].' at the end of the caption of the Table, Figure or Scheme.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Copyright Notice

By submitting your manuscript to Soft Computing Fusion with Applications, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms regarding copyright and licensing:

  1. Copyright Transfer: The author(s) hereby transfer(s) and assign(s) to Soft Computing Fusion with Applications all rights, title, and interest in and to the submitted manuscript, including but not limited to copyright, in all forms and media, now or hereafter known, throughout the world, for the full term of copyright, effective upon acceptance for publication.

  2. License: The author(s) retain(s) the right to use, reproduce, distribute, and publicly display the accepted manuscript for personal, educational, and non-commercial purposes. The author(s) grant(s) Soft Computing Fusion with Applications a non-exclusive license to publish the accepted manuscript, including any supplementary materials, in the journal and other related platforms.

  3. Attribution: Any use of the accepted manuscript should provide appropriate attribution to the journal as the original source of publication.

  4. Creative Commons Attribution License: All articles published in Soft Computing Fusion with Applications are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY). This license allows others to use, share, and adapt the work for non-commercial purposes, provided proper attribution is given to the author(s) and the journal.

  5. Archiving: The journal is included in LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) archival systems to ensure the preservation and accessibility of the published content.

  6. Author's Rights: Except for the rights transferred and assigned to Soft Computing Fusion with Applications, the author(s) retain(s) all other rights, including the right to publish and distribute the preprint version of the manuscript.

  7. Ethical Considerations: By submitting your manuscript, you affirm that the work is original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. You also acknowledge that you have followed ethical guidelines and obtained necessary permissions for any copyrighted material used in the manuscript.

  8. Review and Editing: Soft Computing Fusion with Applications reserves the right to edit the manuscript for style, clarity, and format, while preserving the integrity of the content.

  9. Dispute Resolution: In case of any dispute regarding copyright or licensing, both parties agree to work towards a resolution in good faith.
